We all know that social media can be a powerful tool when it comes to digital marketing. But many of us just don’t know how to use this tool to its fullest advantage.

If you’re using social media to market your company, and you’re not getting the results you’re looking for, it’s possible that your social media might just completely suck! But never fear! Here are some things to look for in your social media posts so that you can make sure they are as effective as possible.

Amplify your Content Strategy

When posting on social media, include original content that will engage your readers. This will go beyond obvious marketing tactics. Brainstorm ideas of solutions to your customers’ problems. This is content that will truly interest your readers like advice that might be relevant to your industry. Share facts or statistic that gives them information they may not have had before.

If you want to get extra points, identify your three most valuable or ideal customers. Lay out attributes of each in a buyer persona format. What motivates them? What do they fear? What do they want out of life? What is their day-to-day like? Identifying buyer personas opens up a whole world of content that your ideal customers will be interested in. Remember to try and solve their problems with your content, rather than just sell your stuff to them.

Share Photos with a Twist

As users scroll through social media, they may not have time to read; but a photo will always catch their attention. Interesting photos can tell stories and are more likely to lead to sharing and interaction.

We always recommend a custom photo shoot, but if you don’t have the budget for that, engaging stock imagery can do the trick.

Again, extra points if you use an app like Canva to lay out your images and add text or an inspiring quote. Play with filters to draw more attention to your image. Also, be sure to familiarize yourself with the format of each social media platform as some photo shapes (i.e. rectangular vs. square) will work better than others.

Ask for Feedback

People love to give their opinions. Giving them this opportunity will not only let them express themselves, it will help them feel closer to the brand. Polls are a great way to get your users to give you input. And if you can ask a question and get comments, Facebook’s algorithm will note the engagement and boost your post organically.

If your company reviews positive, they can have the added benefit of making your company look good. Of course, negative reviews can work against your company in this capacity but knowing how to handle criticism well is an important part of building a brand.

In any case, it is important to remember that it is illegal to offer incentives for positive reviews. Just remind people you want to hear from them and hopefully they will respond in a positive manner!

Use Live Videos

Live videos are trending big time, and many platforms have features that allow companies to use this medium to communicate with their customers. This can provide a sense of intimacy and connection and can work as a valuable promotional tool.

Some businesses may feel their industry is not as geared to live video as others. However, with a bit of out of the box thinking, any company can come up with a clever way to market themselves in this format. Think of filming a Q & A session or a live event or performance that is happening at your location. You can also use live video to show customers new items you may have recently gotten in stock.
