barrier island strong

This year, the Ironmark family is doing something a little different for the holidays. In lieu of sending out traditional gifts to clients and partners, we’ve chosen to support an incredible organization making a real difference: Barrier Island Strong

Why? Because many of our clients, partners, and staff have felt the devastating impact of recent hurricanes like Helene and Milton. Communities were uprooted, homes were destroyed, and lives were changed forever. But in the midst of such unimaginable loss, Barrier Island Strong emerged as a beacon of hope and resilience.

Founded by Veronica Katz after she and her husband lost their home to Hurricane Helene, Barrier Island Strong began as a grassroots effort to help neighbors in immediate need. What started as a family-funded GoFundMe quickly turned into a full-force community support network — getting critical supplies, meals, and manpower to people who needed it most.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Many of Veronica’s neighbors were devastated. Seniors living on fixed incomes. Families living paycheck-to-paycheck. People whose homes were flooded, and who physically couldn’t clear out the damage before black mold set in.

Barrier Island Strong stepped in where larger organizations couldn’t act quickly enough. They hired laborers to clear homes, provided meals and supplies, and helped seniors navigate the complex FEMA process. Their work is hands-on, urgent, and deeply compassionate. From restocking refrigerators to organizing community clean-up events, they’re meeting real needs, right now.

A Growing Movement of Strength

With the help of 80 volunteers from the University of South Florida, Barrier Island Strong has organized events in Treasure Island, Redington Shores, and Madeira Beach. They’ve distributed gift cards, hosted clothing drives, and are even planning holiday meals for families who lost their kitchens.

And their work isn’t stopping. They’re building up donated storm supplies to help residents prepare for future hurricanes and are in the process of becoming a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Their vision is to expand these efforts to more barrier island communities in need.

Why We’re Giving to Barrier Island Strong

At Ironmark, we commit to simplifying complexities, working as one team, and making an impact where it matters most. Supporting Barrier Island Strong aligns with everything we stand for. This holiday season, we’re proud to stand with them and help fuel their mission.
