So, October is breast cancer awareness month (in case you’ve been under a rock for 37 years). We have compiled a few ways you can highlight Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Yep, the famous pink ribbon has been the emblem to promote breast cancer awareness every October since the early 90’s.
Why? Over 230,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer are diagnosed among women each year in the United States. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed and the second-most fatal cancer in women, after lung cancer. Source.
Your company will be hard-pressed to not have someone in its inner circle affected by this rampant disease. As such, you – along with most companies (especially hospitals, public health organizations, and the like) – will want to show support by promoting information, prevention ideas and awareness of the cause.
We are merely weeks away! Is your company ready for #Pinktober?
HERE ARE FIVE EASY WAYS YOUR COMPANY CAN GET INVOLVED:
1. GET PREVENTION INFORMATION OUT TO CLIENTS, PATIENTS AND/OR EMPLOYEES.
Linking your company to prevention is a great way to advocate for the cause while bringing goodwill to your brand. For example, you can imprint your logo on different promo items which help spread awareness.

2. INCREASE AWARENESS THROUGH FUN, ATTENTION-GRABBING GIVEAWAYS.
Though breast cancer is an incredibly serious disease, finding fun ways to promote awareness has been extremely effective. Nothing says fun like plush animals, puzzles and craft kits featuring the pink ribbon and your company’s logo. These will grab attention like no other – and everyone will love them! They give the opportunity to talk to people of all ages, including young people, about the disease and the importance of prevention and advocacy. Find more fun items here.
3. SHARE BREAST CANCER FACTS AND PREVENTION INFO ON SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media is a wonderful way to get the word out about Breast Cancer Awareness. Many companies get creative on Instagram with funny photos and memes. While others prefer to arm their followers with information, prevention and ways to help victims and families. As such, we have put together 31 Tweetable Facts for #Pinktober which includes a fact-a-day for each day in October. Make sure to share these and get the word out about breast cancer awareness!
4. GIVE A GIFT THAT PROMOTES BREAST CANCER AWARENESS BEYOND OCTOBER
People are diagnosed with breast cancer all year round; researchers are looking for a cure around the clock. So, although it’s great to make a pink splash in October, it’s important to support breast cancer charities at other times of the year. By giving a gift that lasts (like a fuzzy throw or a canvas tote bag) to clients, patients and employees, it raises the awareness at times when people are less likely to support breast cancer. The gift that keeps on giving! Find out more here.
5. ORGANIZE A TEAM FOR A WALK, RUN OR EVENT-BASED FUNDRAISER
Your company can promote itself while giving employees the great feeling of being part of a cause. There are various worthy breast cancer awareness charities that help companies organize teams for fundraising toward a cure for breast cancer. Or you can contact our neighbor in Columbia, the American Breast Cancer Foundation to plan your own fundraiser! While your team is promoting the event, they can give away promo products with your company’s name and logo on it, aligning your brand with a very worthy cause.
